    Vanessa Vineyard Syrah 2013

92 points – “Second release shows more varietal character from still young vines, with a splash of Viognier for complexity. Black plum, mocha and cedar notes precede a meaty palate of black fruit, chocolate and pepper notes with some spice and smoke before a lingering end.”

    Vanessa Vineyard Syrah 2013

92 points – “This is 91% Syrah co-fermented with 9% Viognier in the classic style of the Rhone. This wine has been aged 18 months in French and American barrels, again 60% new. Powerful aromas explode from the glass: white and black pepper, gamy red fruit, chocolate and licorice. All of this is echoed on the palate, along with flavours of plum, figs, black olives and leather.”

    Vanessa Vineyard Syrah 2012

91 points – “The Syrah grapes were co-fermented with six percent Viognier. The wine was aged 18 months in French and American oak barrels (this was an eight-barrel wine and five of the barrels were new). This is a big, plush Syrah with black cherry and vanilla aromas that are echoed in the flavour, along with a touch of white pepper and chocolate.”

    Vanessa Vineyard Syrah 2012

91 points – “The six percent Viognier in this Similkameen Syrah works wonders at bolstering bright violet, black cherry, raspberry and even peach aromas, with gorgeous secondary vanilla, leather and mint aromas coming through as well. It’s a dense, full-bodied red loaded with brambly black fruit, ripe cherry licorice, black olive and smoke notes, with light acid and medium tannins that add remarkable complexity. The 18 months in oak certainly doesn’t overwhelm the fruit; rather, this wine brings beautiful balance.”

    Vanessa Vineyard Syrah 2012

91 points – “The heat units and lengthy exposure suggest this should indeed be a good site for Syrah. Aromas of damson, mocha and cedar-y notes, followed by a generous palate of black fruit, chocolate and pepper notes, and some smokiness before a lengthy, spicy end, 94% Syrah, 6% Viognier.”
