    Vanessa Vineyard Rosé 2018

B+ – Featuring a remarkably paler shade of pink than previous vintages — in fact it’s an engaging light rose, a kind of kiss of sunset blush colour — Vanessa Vineyard’s new vintage of rosé beckons with red berry fruit and a healthy herby hit. This is a leaner style pink wine overall, with a tart entry and a lick of spice followed by a good and fresh twang of a finish — testament to the Similkameen Valley, estate-grown Syrah and Merlot. This is an elegant rosé, put a tablecloth on the picnic table and serve alongside fish tacos or grilled halibut. Sassy yet elegant rosé.

    Vanessa Vineyard Meritage 2012

“One area that continues to stoke significant interest is the Similkameen Valley. This is home to Vanessa Vineyard, one of the province’s latest wine ventures. First planted in 2006, the vineyard has provided fruit for well known labels like Sandhill and Red Rooster, but also launched its own reds with the 2012 vintage. The Vanessa Meritage is a rich, bold blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc that is sumptuous but balanced, representing a tasty, and serious, addition to the local kinescope.”
